 Potrero Hill Outdoor Fitness Adventure is NOT a boot camp, PHOFA 2010 is an outdoor fitness experience created to provide enjoyable training, outstanding calorie-burning workouts and general fitness conditioning to participants.

We meet in the same location -Esprit Park- where we will warm up, then go jogging to designated exercising spots within the area where the next phase of the workout will be conducted. This outdoor fitness program consists of a combination of functional training, circuit training, running, obstacle courses and stretching. We'll do push-ups, squats, lunges, and lots of game-like exercises.

While excercising in the outdoor environment you will improve your strength, endurance, energy level, flexibility and lose weight, while enjoying exercising in the outdoor environment.

F.A.Q.

 What ‘PHOFA' means?

PHOFA stands for Potrero Hill Outdoor Fitness Adventure. PHOFA, is like no other outdoor training activity. PHOFA not only incorporates fun-filled great outdoor workouts, but also takes you to different exercising spots in the Potrero Hill neighborhood and a little beyond.


Every day is different workout, every day a different course, every day a different fitness challenge!


What the workouts consist of?

To ensure a proper start, we'll warm up at the beginning of every training session to fully prepare the body for the rest of the workout. As the training session evolves other exercises and drills will be incorporated. There is some running involved, start with 1 and up to 3 miles in a session. Time and distance will vary depending on the course of that particular day and will gradually progress in intensity over the course of the fitness program. We'll exercise using body weight and outside elements, some fitness accessories and exercising equipment will be provided.


How long are the sessions?
They're approximately 60 minutes


How many participants per session?

We try to accommodate a number of people that can be easily managed, supervised and attended, 12 participants or less per session, per instructor.


How do I know in which level to start?

We can help you figure what level is best suitable for you based on your current fitness capabilities. The whole point of it is that you're here to improve your health and fitness, we'll provide you with support and motivation.


Can you tell me what type of participants sign up for your fitness program?

Individuals who want to achieve a greater level of fitness, beginner and intermediate levels. People, who live and/or work in this neighborhood and in the surrounding areas. Ages range from 16 up to 55. 

 Meet your neighbor and make new friends. Participants from other neighborhoods are welcome to join. Participants are encouraged to be respectul and cheerful.


How soon can I see results?

Every individual is different, current level of fitness, strength, endurance, etc. Working out consistently will deliver significant results by the 6th week.


What should I wear for the outdoor training?

Wear comfortable workout attire such as a long-sleeve T-shirt, gym pants and a light jacket. Adjust your fitness attire depending on weather conditions. Also, wear sturdy and supportive running shoes or cross-trainers.

Can I show up to the workouts whenever I want?

The training package is for 6 weeks 2 times a week, you are expected to attend all the sessions, no reimbursements for missed training sessions nor can be transferred to other promotions and/or products. Exemptions may apply. No show losses the session. If running late you can catch up with the group, you get charged for the full session. Every body will be let known, with one week of advance, where the next Exercising Spots will be for that particular week, the whole list of PHOFA Exercising Spots is not be released, the purpose is to retain a level of surprise and to keep a degree of secrecy about the diverse location of the Exercising Spots.


The PHOFA has already started can I still join?

Of course, you will be charged for the remaining sessions of that particular Fitness program, PHOFA will continue to run through the summer, renewing itself at the end of the 6th week. PHOFA, will be eventually featured for evenings and weekends.


Do you take drop-ins?

Yes, the cost is $25 Dls. Per session, per participant.


Are there any conditions that might cancel the training without notice?

Yes, Please be advised, that if affected for unforeseen, unpredictable events i.e. earthquakes, traffic accidents, unexpected changes in weather conditions and temperature, etc. May cause the training session to be suspended or suddenly terminated. Your integrity and safety will not be compromised.


I like the PHOFA fitness program, but I feel I need personalized attention, do you offer other training services?
Yes, one-on-one private personal training sessions, specialized training, sports conditioning training and other fitness services are also available. Please refer to the fitness services page for a full description of these training services and packages or  contact us directly for more information.

I feel I'm ahead of the competition as far as training concerns, do you offer an outdoor training even more challenging for the advanced participant?

Yes, Advanced Outdoor Fitness Training is coming Summer 2009

Safety, Etiquette and other pointers:

 We request that you follow the trainer's directions at all times.

 Arrive a few minutes early to find parking, gear up, etc.

 Immediate warm up upon arriving

 Appropriate shoes and exercise attire must be worn

 There are no lockers provided, come prepared

 Wear layers of clothing, in The City of San Francisco, you never know

 Bring your own water and towel

 Some locations have bathroom facilities

 Be considerate to other participants
 Please keep a cheerful attitude, enjoy you workouts!
 Accidents happen, please watch your step!
